I love practicing this art daily. It is so relaxing and comforting. I find myself focusing on the movements and breathing and not my problems and worries. This effort of concentration takes my mind off of other things, while the movements soothe my outer and inner being. In October I was diagnosed with pre-hypertension. I was not happy. I exercise regularly and walk daily, but it was practicing my Tai Chi daily that lowered my blood pressure. You see, I did not want to take medication for this. I lowered my salt intake and practiced daily and when I returned to the doctor I was taken off the medication. The doctor said she was proud of me. My blood pressure was 115/78, previously it was between 132/92 to 145/96 in that range. Now I make sure I practice Tai Chi for it's many benefits as well as relaxation and clarity of thought.
